1. Corner Bistro / West Greenwich Village: This is a no frills, New York landmark. Lots of New Yorkers will claim this place to have the best burger. You can get a Bistro Burger plus Beer for $8.50. 2. 99 cents Fresh Pizza/ open 24 hours: This is a good place to get a slice if you want to grab and go; there is no place to sit. It is small and crowded, but when you’re hungry, and want some pizza, you can’t beat the price. You can get 2 slices and a drink for $2.75. Address: 151 E 43rd St, NY 10037 between 3rd and Lexington Avenue. Payment: Cash Only

3. Dumpling House / Lower East Side: If you’re in mood for some dumplings, they are the best out of many others. The dumplings are prepared to order, plump, juicy, and hot. You can get 4 dumplings for $1, or a Sesame pork sandwich plus 8 dumplings for $5 or sesame pancake for $1.50. You can also buy frozen vegetable and pork dumpling, 50 for $8. 4. Bangkok House: Lunch specials are two choices of soup, salad, appetizer, and a main dish. You can get Chicken, Beef or Pork in a choice of garlic, peanut, curry, panang or many other varieties of sauces for $6.95. During lunch you can get Shrimp or Squid for $7.95, and duck or seafood for $8.95. Dinner menu starts at $8.95, just a few more dollars than lunch. 5. Tonic / Times Square: This 3 level sports bar / lounge with large plasma TV’s can be a nice alternative to ESPN zone. They serve Lunch Specials M-F, 11-4pm for $11.95, and $4 beers. The lunch menu includes burgers, fajitas, pasta, fish & chips, Sheppard pie, sandwich or Panini. They have Karaoke nights Sundays and Mondays at 9:30pm. 6. Mamoun’s Falafel / open till 5am: There’s usually a line here any time of the day, and it’s hard to get a table, but they have some best Falafel in the city. The lines do move quickly. You can get a falafel sandwich with some good hot sauce for $2.50, and a meal under $5. The chicken or Shish kabobs for $7.95, lamb steak $9.50, Baklavas for dessert at $1.50 are great too. 7. Gray’s Papaya / open 24 hours: If you want better tasting hot dogs for a lesser price than vendor ones, this is the place to go. You can get 2 hot dogs and a 14oz coconut, papaya or some others drink for $3.50. Daiquiris and Pina Colodas are $1.10 to $4.25 depending on size. 8. Baby Bo’s Cantina: This Mexican joint has good food, service, and margaritas. Lunch Specials are served between 11:15 to 4pm, priced at $7.95 / 8.95. There is a good selection of Burritos, Salad, wraps, enchiladas, and more. Weekend brunch starts at $8.95, and dinners start at $9.95. Address: 627 2nd Avenue, NY 10016, between 34th and 35th st. # 212 779 2656

9. Chennai Garden: This Vegetarian and Kosher Indian restaurant offers great portions, sometimes unlike some of its other counterparts. Dosas start at $7.95, or different curries and rice at $8.95. You can also get their Thali entrée and dessert for $14.95, which is a sampler of all popular dishes, and it comes in small dishes. 10. Great NY Noodle Town / Chinatown: It’s a very popular place in Chinatown. Most soups are $3.75. You can get a choice of pan fried noodles, fried rice, noodles in Cantonese style from $3.75 to $ 9.75. They have some of the best wonton soups. They’re a great place to stop by after a night out; they’re open till 4am. Address: 28 Bowery, NY 10013, at Bayard st. #212 349 0923
